The bright band of stars stretching across the frame is a view towards the centre of our very own Milky Way galaxy. Set against the magnificent limestone formations of Kura Tawhiti / Castle Hill, this scene was photographed in winter, when cool sub-zero temperatures freeze the small pond that can often be found at this location.
